We just don’t seem to get it
We people of faith–Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others–just seem to keep turning away from the core of our belief systems: we have forgotten about acting with justice, grace, and mercy. Instead, we focus on getting what’s ours, swinging creed like a cudgel to show others how wrong they are.
And some even swing the heft of political power to force others to be like them… or pretend to be… or, even better, stay invisible. Did Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha, or other spiritual leaders act this way? Of course not.
It isn’t right
And all this tells us that we need to re:pent—re:think how we are embodying our faith. We need to start over. We need to somehow re:faith to match how we interact with this world with our beliefs.
Re:faith is a different kind of faith community.
Welcome. As a community, we are no less imperfect than other people of faith. But we refuse to back away from the radical challenge at the core of so many world beliefs: treating others with dignity and respect—loving them and showing that we see and value them.
At Re:faith, we re:solve to do the hard thing and re:spectfully challenge the injustice around us. So re:ad on to find out more about our mission, how you can be part of it, and why we think you should.
