Our inspiration is broad
There are many texts that reveal the divine design in each of us. Many regard the Christian Bible, the Quran, the Hebrew Bible, and other such texts as sacred. So do we. But many texts enshrine our values of respect, love, openness, and learning.
We live in an era of rampant book-banning. It is distressing to see access to our sacred texts vanishing from our schools and communities. This represents an unconstitutional infringement on religious freedom and an assault on the people whose stories are mirrored in this literature. Moreover, it distresses us to see particular targeting of our LGBTQ+ siblings. Individuals and groups disproportionately challenge books by and about anybody who is not cis and straight.
